Introducing Coins: expense tracking, bank accounts, receipt scanning, an AI assistant, goals and insights

WahCoins is a personal finance app I am building as a SaaS product. It is for people who find existing budgeting tools vague or unhelpful:

  • millennials facing “money dysmorphia” and high living costs
  • average-income households that want a personalised budget
  • new immigrants learning an unfamiliar financial system
  • former Mint users looking for a full replacement

What it does

  • Bank sync. It connects multiple bank accounts through Plaid and tracks transactions automatically.
  • AI budgeting. Budgets, built with Google Gemini, are personalised to your goals and adjust to how you actually spend.
  • Receipt scanning. It pulls item-level details from a receipt and sorts them into categories, so you see spending down to the line item.
  • And more: price comparisons, a secure receipt vault, and offline support.

Receipt scanning: capture every detail with one snap

Transactions: complete visibility of your money flow

All your accounts in one place

Budgets that adapt to your life, and personalised insights

How it is built

It is a progressive web app built with Next.js. I wireframed the UI in v0 and developed it in Cursor. Data is stored in MongoDB Atlas, and the app is deployed on Vercel.

The receipt scanning grew out of an earlier experiment, turning receipts into JSON with OCR and GPT-3.5.
