Maqqie

Maqqie is a hybrid mobile and web application that streamlines job supply, scheduling, payroll, and staff management in the gig and flexible employment sector. Developed at Vanenburg Software in 2019, the project addressed the complex challenge employers faced in matching fluctuating staffing needs with suitable candidates while handling the administrative burden of payroll and scheduling. My contributions focused on enhancing the platform’s functionality and user experience through UI development with Wavemaker, JavaScript-driven interactions, and REST API integration, ensuring smooth and responsive workflows. We adopted an iterative, user-centric design approach to refine the interface and deliver a consistent cross-platform experience.

Building Maqqie involved overcoming the inherent challenges of hybrid app development, particularly mobile debugging across iOS and Android using PhoneGap, Ionic, and Angular. Our team implemented an innovative shared Mac environment for iOS and dedicated tools for Android, enabling seamless troubleshooting and optimization. The outcome was a unified solution launched successfully across web, iOS, and Android from a single codebase, praised by users for its ease of use and reliability. Quickly embraced as one of the most loved gig platforms in the Netherlands, Maqqie delivered an efficient, accessible, and comprehensive solution for managing gig work at scale.
